Savvy Intrapreneur
Empowerment * Professionalism * Excellence

Hello [your name here when you subscribe],

There's a new wind blowing these days. The age of doing 20+ years at a job for a secure retirement has disappeared. Our feature article "Wake Up Call to Action" provides proof positive. Developing a career while maintaining position at work requires staying focused as a Savvy Intrapreneur. This takes courage.

An Intrapreneur thinks like an entrepreneur seeking out opportunities which, inevitably, benefit the corporation. A Savvy Intrapreneur steps out of the comfort zone of corporate security, to insure s/he creates additional income which at least
matches their take home pay. An Intrapreneur works overtime helping to run someone else's business, for the company's future. A Savvy Intrapreneur runs themselves like a business putting in 1 hour a day of overtime for their own financial future. Click
here to listen to a brief speech from a person we all know as an expert on courage. Then step out.

Wake Up Call to Action

Just like little day dreaming Calvin to the left, people
are in for a rude awakening if they think traditional
ways of working or previous job trends will stay the
same. Now is the time to take action by
proactively running your career like a
business, while you still have a choice.
According to
a recent report by the U.S. Department
of Labor (DOL), today, few workers can count on
spending their entire careers within one company,
and the average person will change jobs nine
times or
more before the age of 32. Full-time, stable,
long-
term employment arrangements will continue to
decline. Instead, a growing number of workers will
be part-timers, temporaries, consultants, or
contractors.

Many workers are struggling to meet their
family obligations, which have expanded in many
cases to taking care of their elderly parents.
Consequently, the need to balance work demands
and home life will continue to be a growing concern.

The DOL report further reinforces a startling fact.
As
the 21st Century unfolds, the American workforce will
be vastly different than it is today. Two
powerful
forces will transform the workforce and the manner in
which we work:

* A sharp increase in the demand for knowledge

* Greater use of alternate work arrangements that
do not fit the traditional work model

How to Use Online Networks to Market Your Business by David Teten and Scott Allen

A common mistake many marketers make when
dealing with
online communication is in thinking that it can be
turned on and off like an advertising campaign.
Online
networks are generally not very receptive to
marketing messages from brand new members.
You
must earn the right to talk about your product
through participation in and contribution to the
community. Similarly, you cannot simply leave when
the campaign is over, or you will be seen as shallow
and a ?user.? People do not want to be used; please
do not use people.

20 Entrepreneurs Under 35 and Doing Good in the Community

Young entrepreneurs want to do good as they do
well. The spread of the Silicon Valley
ethos around the globe isn?t the only lasting result of
the boom and bust. At least, not according to what
we?ve seen from Red Herring?s list of notable
Entrepreneurs Under 35. It?s a diverse list, to be
sure?from sharks who?ve managed to gain funding in
capital-challenged realms to those who seem truly
committed to changing society with their companies.
We didn?t pick the biggest moneymakers, or the
flashiest media darlings. Instead, Red Herring
consciously chose people who might be little known
outside the insular world of the business of
technology, or whose ideas, visions, or passions may
turn them into tomorrow?s leaders?a kinder Bill Gates,
a gentler Larry Ellison, a more huggable Steve Jobs,
perhaps (or not).

?There?s a new generation saying, ?I want to make
money, but I also want to do good.?? ? Andrew Zolli,

"Marketing Words of Wisdom from Thelonius Monk" by Phil Dunn

?The only cats worth anything are the cats that take
chances.? - Thelonius Monk

Half the celebrated marketing coups you hear about
originated with individuals that stepped outside the
lines and took some risks. They didn?t sit tight and
produce pedestrian advertising campaigns. They
didn?t check their personalities at the front door and
produce bland marketing campaigns.
